🎨🔥 Creativity has been on fire in our art room this quarter!
During the third quarter, CACS art students rolled up their sleeves and got their hands messy working with clay to create unique ceramic projects. Each grade level took on a different challenge, showing off their creativity and craftsmanship in their own special way.
And our in-house kiln? It’s been working overtime bringing all these amazing creations to life!

The Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship Awards were announced this morning and we have a winner - Mrs. Sabrina Holden!
Mrs. Holden is incredibly deserving of this award. She is amazing at her job, especially building relationships of trust with students. She's an advocate for student achievement and a champion for student opportunities. She knows how to get the best out of every student - their best effort, best behavior, and best attitude. Ask any student who graduated from CACS in the last 20 years who their favorite teacher was, and Mrs. Holden will be the answer many of them give. She prepares them for the future, both academically and emotionally.
If we tried to list everything she does for our school, this post would never end! Suffice it to say, she is an integral part of what makes our school great and we're so incredibly lucky to have her here.

Monday our 8th graders had the opportunity to participate in a retreat. The day was focused on being rooted in Christ and building the future. Students spent time reminiscing about their time at CACS and the faith foundation they have created so far. Students took time to determine what they viewed as the most important foundation for them. The afternoon was spent focusing on preparing for high school. Time was spent thinking about situations they might face in high school and how to share their faith. The retreat concluded with thinking about what legacy they want to leave when high school ends to help them focus on who they want to be. It was a great day!
The 4th graders at CACS have been busy this Lenten season! Each day, they are listening to the Kids Lenten Challenge (the Miracle Hunters sessions) on Hallow. They are also spending time each day in prayerful reflection as they write in their Lenten journals. These have been two amazing ways to grow in faith! Additionally, the 4th graders are preparing to lead Stations of the Cross at 12:15 on Friday. They are also hard at work in rehearsals with the 5th-8th graders for the Passion Play next Wednesday (there is a performance at 1:30 in the afternoon and another at 6:00 in the evening). We hope you can join us!

The 5th and 6th graders have teamed up on a student-led project to plan a field trip in April and raise money so families don't have to pay for admission! They will be visiting Ledge View Nature Center and Thousand Islands Environmental Center to learn more about our Earth and the amazing natural world around us. 🌎
Students can make purchases before school, during 10:00 recess, and during lunch recess now until April 1. They have bracelets, keychains, stickers, and more available. Every purchase helps get them one step closer to this exciting learning adventure. Thank you for supporting our students! 😊

📚🌎 Last week at Bilingual Storytime, we celebrated Read Across America Week in a special way!
Our students enjoyed two wonderful stories—one in English and one in Spanish—bringing the magic of reading to life in two languages. After storytime, everyone got creative by coloring pictures inspired by the stories. 🎨
It’s always so exciting to see young readers learning, laughing, and exploring stories together while building skills in both languages. What a fun way to celebrate the joy of reading! ❤️📖
Last Friday, the 7th and 8th grade students reverently portrayed Jesus’ journey through His final days on Earth during our Shadow Stations. Each week, a different class leads us through a unique reflection on The Stations of the Cross, helping us enter more deeply into this sacred season of Lent.

The 6th–8th grade students had a wonderful opportunity to deepen their faith during a retreat led by SPIRITUS. The theme of the retreat centered on love and invited students to reflect on God’s love in their lives and how they are called to share that love with others. Throughout the morning, students participated in engaging activities, meaningful discussions, and moments of prayer. It was a faith-filled experience, and we had lots of fun together.

Today, they turned our classroom into an obstacle course and worked in teams to guide their blindfolded partners safely through using only their words. Talk about teamwork, communication, and lots of laughter!
Afterward, we had a great discussion about what makes a successful mentor and mentee; focusing on trust, encouragement, patience, and leadership. So proud of the way these students are growing in confidence and character each day!

In honor of February being Children's Dental Health Month, 5K had a special visitor come in to help us learn about taking care of our teeth. Grandma Pieps and Crockie showed us how to brush and floss our teeth, what good foods to eat, and made us giggle too. 🦷🪥🦷

StudentLeader Academy brings together motivated 5th–8th grade students twice a month to grow as leaders. They don’t just learn about leadership — they practice it. Through hands-on activities, collaboration, and reflection, they build important skills like communication, responsibility, teamwork, and confidence.
But the best part? They pass it on. 💙
Our StudentLeader Academy members work in small teams of 3–4 students and are paired with a 5K–4th grade classroom for the entire school year. Throughout the year, they lead lessons and activities that teach leadership skills to our younger students — building meaningful relationships and becoming positive role models along the way.
It’s inspiring to see our older students step up, grow in confidence, and make a lasting impact within our school community.
This program is an extension of CatholicLeader Academy, which our teachers completed, and for the past three years, we’ve been proud to bring this leadership journey to our students as well.
