We've been celebrating Christmas this week with dress up days every day! Monday was Crazy Hair Day and Tuesday was Candy Cane Day. Lots of creativity coming out, especially on Monday!

On this third Sunday of Advent, which the Church calls “Gaudete Sunday", meaning rejoice or praise, we light the third candle and rejoice like the shepherds. For this reason, the third candle of Advent is called the “Shepherd's Candle,” and its color is pink, the liturgical color for joy.

Welcome to the second Sunday of Advent!
The second candle on the Advent wreath represents peace. Like the first candle, it is also purple. Often called the “Bethlehem Candle,” the second Advent candle reminds us of Mary and Joseph's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem before Mary gave birth to Jesus.

The third grade CACS students spread holiday cheer at Century Ridge. They made mitten Christmas ornaments for the residents and wished them all a Merry Christmas!

The 2nd-8th graders got a cool experience yesterday...we got to meet Meg Medina, Newbery Medal winner and the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature for 2023 and 2024! The Chilton Public Library put together a Community Read of one of Medina's middle grade fiction books - Merci Suarez Changes Gears. Today, Medina was in Chilton and we got a special talk just for our kids at the library! Thank you to CPL and to Meg Medina for providing our kids with such a fun and inspiring day!

At CACS, our student leadership group is called StudentLeader Academy (SLA). SLA is a program developed by CatholicLink (a partnership between Green Bay Catholic schools, Notre Dame Academy, and St. Norbert College) to teacher leadership skills through a Catholic lens. This is our 2nd year of the program and we love it! Led by Mrs. Lawman and Ms. Mastey, our 5th-8th graders in SLA meet twice a month. They learn about different leadership skills themselves and then get together with their group to design a lesson to teach those skills to their assigned classroom, 5K-4th grade. In addition, they also participate in volunteer opportunities, like ringing bells for the Salvation Army. Monday was the first time this school year that they got to teach in their assigned classrooms and they did great! Check out some of the fun pictures from their lessons.

Today is the first day of the Advent season! Each Advent, the church marks our journey to Jesus' birth by lighting a candle on the Advent wreath each Sunday until Christmas. Today, we light the first purple candle which is a symbol of Hope and the anticipation of Christ's coming. It is often called the "Prophecy Candle."
Let's all make time this Advent to prepare for the birth of our Savior.

On Monday, we held our November Discipleship Assembly to recognize the students who are using the "Building Blocks of a Disciple" in and out of the classroom. We were also able to recognize our 1st Quarter A and B Honor Roll recipients - the most students we've had make Honor Roll in a very long time! To qualify for B Honor Roll, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0-3.49. To qualify for A Honor Roll, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5-4.0. Congratulations to all of our recipients this month - both for Discipleship Awards and Honor Roll!

Wishing a blessed Thanksgiving to all of our CACS families and friends.

Yesterday, Mrs. Meyers and Building Committee Member Terry Criter attended a luncheon at Lambeau Field to receive a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation! The money will be used to purchase physical education equipment for our new gym space, like a volleyball system and pickleball equipment. These are sports we've never been able to teach here at CACS with our old "gym" so we're excited to expand what we can offer. They were even able to meet Dorsey Levens, former Green Bay Packers Running Back. Thank you to the Green Bay Packers Foundation for this generous grant and congratulations to all the grant recipients across the state! #PackersGiveBack

Today, the local VFW presented two of our students with awards for their Patriot's Pen essays! Kyle won an Honorable Mention and Natalee got 2nd place! Congratulations to you both and to all of our 7th and 8th graders on well-written essays.

With the 21st annual Toast to Our Future event behind us, we would like to say thank you! The event would not have been possible without our amazing donors, event chairs, many volunteers, CACS staff, Good Shephard parish staff, Neighborhood Pub and Grill, and all of the event attendees. We are so blessed to have such wonderful support.

On this Veterans Day, we take the time to ask God to bless and watch over the men and women who have given their lives for our protection. May they rest in peace.
"Give to everyone what you owe them... if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."
